INTRODUCTION[edit | edit source]

It can be a challenge and time consuming to learn MediaWiki wikitext formatting. MediaWiki is the developer of our Wiki site. The proprietary syntax and interface includes a significant learning curve to become proficient. We’ve all spent many years using word processors such as Word and generally are more proficient at them versus writing wikitext. So, I’ve been looking for years for an export solution and finally found one!

With Openoffice and an extension specifically made for exporting to the MediaWiki wikitext format; it’s quick and easy to convert a Word document to wikitext. So assuming this would be handy for most if not all of the Wiki contributors I wrote this article to share the knowledge with the teams.
