Sometimes called the Light of Asia. Buddha was born approximately 500 years before Christ. He was the incarnation of Wisdom, just as Christ is called the incarnation of Love. He gave to humanity the Four Noble Truths:
1. Suffering is of man's own making,
2. Desire leads to attachment of the temporary and therefore away from the eternal and this is the cause of suffering,
3. To cease from suffering one must renounce desire and attachment,
4. The path which leads away from desire is the path of enlightenment.
